Questions

Please outline any questions you have below.

  • The more information you can give the better the answers I will provide.
  • Include the detail of farriery care, shoe size etc. you can include foot measurements and angles if necessary.
  • A history in dated order of events.
  • Photographs of the horse from the front, rear and side if possible à refer to example.
A side view in bright sunlight, with all 4 legs visible and the horse standing naturally. This view gives information on the horse's posture and conformation.
  • Two views of the weight bearing feet, (fronts and hinds) from the front and side à refer to examples.
You must get down low (ground level) and line the feet up squarely to the camera. Including up to the carpal joints (knees) may give additional information on conformation.
  • Two views of the non weight bearing feet showing the sole view and the heel view à refer to examples.

Have the horses head in line with its body and not bent around as this makes the heels look uneven. Hold the foot from the fetlock joint (not like in the photo) and make sure you are aiming directly over the heels. Line the camera up level so that I can see if the heels are unlevel. Use bright sun or flash for this shot.   Have someone else hold the foot. Full sun or use a flash and make sure you aim for the centre of the foot with the camera facing squarely onto the foot.
